I can’t believe it is already the END of October. I did a lot this month. It was another trip to OU/TX, battled Strep throat and then healed my kids of their own illnesses, a trip to move Fat-n-Sassy to Aventura, then I just returned from Savannah and the best thing of all…..HALLOWEEN.
It is amazing to me that people actually can take this beautiful holiday and make it seem mean spirited. Yesterday I was shopping in Super Target and I watched a 4 year old Cinderella twirl down the aisles as her mother shopped. For that one moment, she was a princess and of course they twirl down the lanes as they grocery shop. I then saw a little boy in his Batman costume flying in and out of the clothing racks. How can that be evil? It is the one holiday when a child can be anything they want to be. Parents are forced to be crafty/imaginative to make sure they “babies” get to be that person.
I just spent countless hours trying to find brightly colored jogging shorts and a tank top so I can bedazzle it with words “sweat”. All of this so my 11 year old can be Richard Simmons. Yes, it is all about the imagination at my house. Nothing is off limits. Right now I am trying to convince my husband that no one want to see his Olympic diver costume. Especially since it only consists of a Speedo and a ShamWow. I promise to keep you posted if it happens.
With all of this said, I wish you and your family a most blessed Halloween. Take a moment to thank God for giving you an imagination and allowing you to keep your inner child alive. It is this “child” that allows you to keep dreaming up those silly costumes, decorating pumpkins and giggling at each child who rings your door to say “trick or treat”!
