This mom is worn out!! This week is Jack and Caytie’s last week of school. I am blessed that my kids attend the best grade school around…Truman Elementary. It always makes me a little bit sad this week. It is the end of a phase.
For Caytie, this was the year that her inner creative side came out. She amazed us at her cooking prowess. Ms. C placed 3rd in the all city school cookoff in October! Then she showed us that she fears nothing. During this years Sooner Theatre Showcase she walked on stage and announced and then performed her numbers. We were amazed at what a little performer she was!! Caytie also played sports all year. I am not going to talk about her super sports talents. What I will talk about is her amazing sense of “team.” No matter if it was The Cheetah Girls soccer team or the Chocolate Kisses (softball), she was excited to be a part of the group. She kept positive about her experience and that of her team mates. Maybe this is just about being a 2nd grade girl but whatever it was I loved it!
Jack had an amazing year too. He got to spend another year in Mrs. Kristi Pate’s class! She “looped” with her class. At the beginning of the year, Jack made it a personal challenge to either volunteer or be nominated to do extra stuff at school. That would be the tech crew, safety patrol, select choir and honor choir. How that effected me was that Jack had to be at school 30 minutes early and then 20 late for pretty much the entire semester. So, at that moment I was not just super excited but honestly what an honor all of this was for Jack. He is a good boy. His kindness and enthusiasm is infectious. It was also a great sports year. He played all the sports and loved being with his buddies every step of the way. I have to say that I love when he plays sports because I have become attached to his friends parents. We have really turned into quite a good group of friends. The best part about Jack’s year was that we saw him turn into a tween. This was his year to grow up. I feel good that he will really enjoy middle school!
As far as how the Mom is feeling tonight….well I am excited to spend the summer with my children. There will only be one summer that Jack is 11 and Caytie is 7. I am going to embrace everything this summer! Let the adventures begin!
