Some love the game, others get fired up about the commercials, but I love the food! I know you are shocked to hear that…but seeing all of the creative foods we serve on Super Bowl Sunday is so much fun! I guess I am a little biased because I got my big break with my Sassy Tailgate Sandwiches. They won me $25,000.00 and then launched my career. So, tailgate food is my wheelhouse!
This year I have some touchdown worthy dishes you are going to love! They are easy to assemble ahead and are easy to serve. Both of which are crucial to a good spread on Super Bowl Sunday!
Here is my take on Brats but the bun and relish are built in. Then there is the sauce. Thanks to my friend, Bo, at News9 he gave me the secret recipe to the Cain’s sauce!! It is so good and is a great dipper!
Brats in a Blanket w/ Cain-esque Dipping Sauce
2 packages Schwab’s Bratwurst
2 packages refrigerated crescent rolls
1/2 cup Suan’s Onion Jam
Dipping Sauce:
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup ketchup
1/2 tsp. garlic salt
1/4 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1/2 tsp. black pepper
1/2 tsp. paprika
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Unroll the crescent rolls and separate into 4 sheets. Make sure and press the perforations together. Spread a tablespoon of onion jam over each sheet. Then wrap a crescent roll around each one and place seam side down on a baking sheet. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
To make dipping sauce: Simply which together all of the ingredients a couple of hours before serving. Allow to sit in the refrigerate and meld all of those phenomenal flavors together!
Any great tailgate needs a dessert. Again portability is key! Everyone like to walk, watch and talk while eating. So do not over think this. Try my brownies! They are so simple to make and it is like having your brownie and cookie at the same time!
Chocolate Chip Cookie Brownies
1 box fudge brownies
1/2 cup Braum’s unsalted butter, melted
1/4 cup water
3 eggs
1 roll of Braum’s chocolate chip cookie dough, rolled flat
1 container Hershey’s Special Dark frosting
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray a 9×13 baking pan with non stick cooking spray. In a medium sized bowl mix together the brownies, melted butter, water, and eggs till combined. Pour into baking pan and bake for 25-30 minutes or until done. Remove from the oven and allow to cool completely. Place the rolled out cookie dough over the top of the brownies. To make chocolate glaze: Remove silver liner on frosting container. Place in a microwave and zap for 40 seconds or until runny. Pour over the cookie dough and spread evenly. Place in the refrigerator for a couple of hours to set up. Cut into squares and serve!
