This week the family made an exodus to Florida to check on Fat-n-Sassy. Well, she is still afloat and looked great. Jack and his buddy arrived a few days earlier and enjoyed the warm weather. The kids and I arrived via Detroit (don’t ask…this is what I get for flying Delta) and brought cold air with us. I will not complain since it was better that Oklahoma in February. It was a great long weekend! We got some chores done on board and had the detailers start on the job of making her shine for the summer.
We enjoyed dinner with our favorite Virginian and maybe the kindest man ever…DanDan. Dinner was at Finz where we enjoyed the 1/2 price appetizers and then DanDan showed Jack his newest toy for sale…a center console boat. So, the next day we were lucky enough for Dan Dan to give us a sea trial. It was a rocket! Some think pelicans are a nuisance. I love them! So when one flew by and landed on our boat motor to catch a ride I felt truly honored. Jack felt like it might be a blessing from the nautical Gods and that the boat is meant to be. Whatever it was I do not know but the pelican posed for pics. Tell me that is not a smart animal!
I made a movie of our day at the beach. It was beautiful yet chilly. However, you will notice the kids had no clue. In the spirit of fitness, we made them run for a frozen pina colada. As you can guess, some of the group did it happily and some did not. Watch the movie and see what happens.
Jackson and Jack finally caught the elusive snook. This fish has taunted us for over 5 years. As Jackson said, “Humans 5 / Snook 2 (means they broke the line and ate the shrimp). I was so happy to see that this fish actually exists and that it can be caught. Jackson and Caytie spent every evening on the dock fishing and then Caytie was the official photographer. Have to admit she did a super job!
Well, it is back to Oklahoma for 2 more weeks of school and then back to my happy place!
