One of the most frustrating things about snacks is when my kids come home from school, go into the pantry and declare “we are out of snacks.” That is when I go in and retrieve the 2 ft wide basket filled to the brim with every type of chewy gooey fruit thing on the planet, assorted granola bars in every flavor imaginable or how about all of those chips. Then I say, “You have got to be kidding me! This thing is filled!” Well, I have figured out that the kids have too many choices. We all say that we will not use our own childhoods as a reference point when relating to our kids but come on. I remember many days when there were no snacks other than a random Ritz cracker or how about a bootlegged girl scout cookie I found melted into the bottom of the cookie jar. Those were the days! My kids would not know a cookie jar if it fell in their lap. They depend on snacks in small packages
I have to admit that I am going to get rid of these unsatisfactory snacks and give them to my kids teachers to use. Now, I am going to go with one snack style per week. This week I received an assortment of H.K. Anderson pretzels. I have to say I was not that fired up since after all they are pretzels. How good could they be? Well, boy was I wrong. These are addictive little crunchy treats. Right now as I type I have a package of the Peanut Butter Filled Nuggets sitting right next to me. They are heaven. I am trying to be healthy and give my kids good food choices but all I can think about is once Christmas gets here I am going to dunk these little lovers in chocolate and put them in tins…Hello yum! Jackson my 11 year old tore into the Salty Stix after school which then caused Caytie to ask “where are my treats” and I gave her the little Pretzel Balls. Basically we devoured our little assortment and I am here to tell you that H.K. Anderson pretzels ROCK! They are not the usual pretzels. Each pack tastes fresh and they are too fancy to ever show up as a bar snacks. I highly recommend you picking up any flavor and giving them to your kids as an alternative to that sticky sweet stuff I have an entire basket filled with!
Please drop me a message if you have any other great uses of these snacks other than snacks…looking for some good Holiday gift ideas and these just might be the ticket!
