Hey everyone…
I am so sorry for being absent this past week. It has been a really emotionally hard week for me and my family. My beloved Aunt Jeanie Jean’s 25 year old son, Seth passed away suddenly. As you can imagine I immediately rushed to her side.
This past week I have seen the heartbreak of a loving mother and father lose a child, grandparents lose a grandchild, brother and sister who lost a sibling and others who have lost a true friend. It was heartbreaking in every form. So young, so kind and ever so compassionate.
Seth was a kind spirit who never knew a stranger. I was struck by the outpouring of love from everyone to my Aunt’s family. One of the stories that was told of Seth this week was his concern for a family who did not have a turkey at Thanksgiving. He came to his mother and told her he could not stand to think of them going without. So, he popped into his car and took them a turkey! That is evidence that this mother raised a son with compassion and love for others. I hope that I am able to fully instill this virtue into my own children as well as my Aunt has done!
As I sit today I can’t help but reflect. It is sad to think that many of us do not take the time to show our love until it is too late. I encourage you to take the time to TELL those around you how much you love them. Take a moment to SHOW compassion and empathy to someone suffering. Allow yourself to HELP a total stranger for no reason. I know Seth would love this and I want to honor him with this request from my readers! Life is short, ever so precious. So spread love and kindness wherever you may go. If we all do this more often this world would be a kinder gentler place!
I promise tomorrow I will be back ready to get to cooking! Spreading my love with the gift of hospitality!!! Plus I have to tell you all about how those Southern ladies can cook a meal for people who are in mourning! The food I ate this week was amazing…..
