Have you ever heard of that phenomenally scented hand soap called Mrs. Meyers?? I love this stuff but sometimes it is a little pricey to outfit the house with this heavenly scented cleanliness. So, I did some experimenting. Conjured memories of Girl Scout badge projects and figured it out. It is actually quite simple!
Here is what you will need:
1 bar of Castille soap (I like Mrs. Meyer’s)
2 tablespoon liquid vegetable glycerin (it’s in the laxative aisle)
1 tablespoon lavender essential oil
1 gallon distilled water
Start by grating your bar of soap. Place the water, glycerin, and lavender oil in a large stockpot. Stir in the soap and allow it to completely. This will take about 5-8 hours. It will become cloudy and very thick.
Use an electric hand mixer to beat together to make the soap smooth. Use a funnel and fill empty gallon water jug. Use as needed to refill your bottles.
