I love Mother’s Day. It is the one holiday when my family makes me feel like a queen. It starts out with the kiddos piling into the big bed telling me how much they love me. We snuggle, giggle and watch a movie together. Usually munching on a breakfast they have made. Once the movie finishes we go to our local garden center. I buy numerous flats of bedding flowers. Best part is that my kiddos plant them for me! We play in the flower beds and transform the winter yuck to Spring time gorgeous. All with my babies little hands. Makes watching my flowers grow so much more meaningful! My favorite part of the whole day is dinner. My family cooks for me. Jack, Jackson, and Caytie cook an entire meal filled with all of my favorite foods. It is delicious and they even do the dishes!
I watch so many commercials asking people to buy their Mom’s something. However I think if you took a poll of Mom’s they would be totally happy with a brunch of dinner made for them and about them! Honor your Mom’s this Mother’s Day! I know they will love it!
Here is one of my favorite recipes that the kids make for me every Mother’s Day morning! When baking I have taught the kiddos to use vanilla paste! I find mine at International Pantry in Norman!
Nutty Monkey Bread
3 1/2 cans Grands butter biscuits (halved and then cut into thirds)
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon and 1/2 cup sugar combined
2 sticks unsalted butter (melted)
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup pecans, rough chopped
1 tsp cinnamon
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray Bundt Pan with nonstick cooking spray.
Mix melted butter, brown sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon in a small bowl, set aside.
Layer biscuits then sprinkle with pecans and cinnamon sugar mixture until bundt pan is full. Pour melted butter and sugar mixture over the biscuits. Set Bundt pan on a baking sheet. Bake 350 degrees for 50-60 minutes. Remove from oven (keep bundt pan upside down) and let sit covered 1 hour.
Icing:
2 cups powdered sugar
2 tablespoon butter
1 teaspoon vanilla paste
add milk to desired consistency
In a small bowl mix together powdered sugar, melted butter, vanilla paste and milk till smooth like a glaze.
**Bundt Pan by Nordic Ware is my favorite. I collect Bundt pans and Nordic Ware is the BEST!!
