Right now I am sitting on the plane thoroughly enjoying a snack I picked up at the West Palm Airport. You see, our flight was goin to be right in the middle of dinner so being the ever ppreparwd mama, I dashed into the gift shop to buy some over priced Cheeseits. To my surprise, they had an entire section dedicated to “good healthy choices” for snacks. My eyes were immediately drawn to the Go Picnic ready to eat meal. I have to be honest..I was a little Leary of hummus in a non refrigerate box. But I was in a pinch so I grabbed that and the turkey sausage stick box too.
Now we are mid flight and I am hungry. So pop open the box I go..inside is multiseed crackers, dry roasted edamame, hummus, baja blend nut medley and a small bar of dark chocolate. Jackson and I are sharing and I have to say it is more than enough for 2. The boxed meal is only 410 calories, 12 grams of fiber and 24 grams of protein. Best part is that it is gluten free, with no trans fats, or high glucose sugars. Finally a portable lunch that I can recommend to GF pal Gina! Not to mention this is a super option for Mom’s to use in a pinch for their kids! I know there are those other refrigerated meal things but I ask you….have you read what’s in those? This is a across the board healthy lunch/meal option.
Now comes the tough part. Where in Oklahoma sells these? I may have to wait for the new Whole Foods to open later this year. Until then I will check my local health food stores.
The reason I am talking about this is:
A) bored on this flight/loving this snack and B) focusing on preparing my kids unique and healthy lunches this year. Check back later because I am going to post my top 5 favorite lunch pail combos!
