Sad to say but today was my kid’s last day of the 2010 summer. This will be the only summer that I will spend with my son, the 11 year old, or my sweet Caytie while she was 7.
It seems to me that many parents spend much of their late spring trying to get their kids into “the best camp” or “the perfect class” that they forget they only get 18 summers with their children. So we better make them count!
I am happy to say that this summer my family and I had a wonderful time together. We went to the boat where we snorkled, collected sea shells and played on sand bars.
In the evenings I loved our excursions out in the smaller boat where we would find a good place to eat dinner or to just go for an evening cruise and watch the sun go down.
We also explored new and exciting places like St. Augustine, Florida and Savannah, Georgia. We went to California and played in tide pools and learned that starfish are different in the Atlantic vs. the Pacific Oceans.
Now at the end of the summer I am left realizing that all of things I saw and experienced over this summer I get to carry with me long after my kiddos go on their way in the world. Each of these memories are small treasures I carry in my heart.
I want you to know is that I had the time of my life this summer and I am blessed to have such a wonderful family!
I would never trade my time with my children and my husband for the world!
