After spending the last 2 days baking my body in the sun, we decided to go to the Stuart Arts Fair. If you have read any of my past posts you will see that I love Stuart, Fl. It is a quaint Florida town that has not given into the pressures to be a touristy town. I could see myself living there and raising my family in this town. Anyway, they were having an arts festival so we made the trek. It was in the old downtown area and had lots of beautiful beach paintings and photography. Jack found it interesting that I liked all of the brightly colored art whereas the kids liked the sculpture and well he was balking at all of the “ridiculous” prices. Sorry to all of my friends out there who are artists….I get it but well he does not.
One critique of the festival is that it lacked a kids area. I am so proud of my Assistance League in Norman. They put on a fabulous May Fair Arts Festival every year and there they have a kids area where they can create various art projects! I know it takes tons of work but I give it up to them on their efforts. My kids talked about how much they cannot wait to go to May Fair this year so they can make the stuff!
Another super thing that is in Stuart is the Twistee Treat. Maybe the happiest place I know to get a cone. My favorite is the Gorilla Cone. This is a vanilla soft serve, rolled in nuts and then dipped into chocolate. YUM! The best part is that the building is in the shape of an ice cream cone. Jack asked me as we drove home: was it the cone I loved or the building? I think it is the building that makes he smile. It just looks happy…Then come on the cone is heaven. I think when I die God will have a Twistee Treat building waiting for me to eat at everyday.
