I begin this post by saying…I am not crazy.
A couple of weeks ago I was struck by something that our “spiritual mentor” was telling us at our bible study. She said that sometimes the most important messages from God/Holy Spirit do not come on a billboard but rather from strangers. She said she had experienced this many times. She said, at the time it does not seem monumental however after leaving the incident you say to yourself…”hmmm, i think God just spoke to me.” Well that happened this week. Here is what happened…
Flying home from Atlanta to OKC, I was seated next to a chubby lady in her 50’s. She had a pleasant face and a peaceful demeanor. So, basically that is a perfect person to fly next to!! Well, the flight was SUPER ROUGH and I could tell she was nervous and so I struck up a conversation with her. She told me she was returning home from a visit to see her 1st born grandson who was 14 months. She said she had a lot on her mind and all the bumping was not helping. In our talks she told me she used to be an LPN and worked in gynecology. She then began to say that her visit was good but she found it a bit silly how worked up 1st time mom’s are. (You know that one…the one that disinfects everything, no dirty clothes allowed after playing at the park or how about only organic food for the child.) I then said to her, “My mom died 5 years ago and I wish all the time I could tell her I am sorry for yelling and acting like a child when it came to her and my kids.” The stranger grabbed my hand and said, “There is a place between heaven and here and your mother does not want you to waste another moment of your life feeling bad for how you acted. She knew you would find your way as a mother on you own.” My eyes began to tear and for a moment I felt like God gave me this woman to absolve my soul. It was peaceful and she smiled at me and patted my hand. Hmm…
Then God does one better….(he is so good at bringing us back to the NOW)
As we are driving home from the airport, I say to Jack, “I think I just sat next to my Mom on the plane.” Then Caytie chimes in from the backseat, (forgetting that they hear everything) “Mom, Nana is in Heaven and not in Atlanta!” So there you go…
