October 30, 2013Ghoulish Goodies Here are some ghoulishly yummy treats to enjoy this Halloween! How about spooky swirl cookies that you can embellish with sprinkles. Slice and bake! < Basic Sugar Cookie Recipe (omit the lemon extract and sub for almond) Brownie Cookie 1 cup butter 1/4 cup butter flavored Crisco 1 1/2 cups sugar 2 eggs 1 teaspoon vanilla 1 teaspoon salt 3/4 teaspoon baking powder 2/3 cup cocoa powder 3 1/2 cups flour Cream butter, shortening and sugar together. Add eggs and vanilla. Mix well. Add baking powder and salt and continue mixing. Beat in the cocoa and the add the flour slowly one cup at a time. Divide into 2 ziplocs and refrigerate for one hour. Roll out to 1/4 inch thickness. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 10-12 minutes. To make the swirl: roll out sugar cookie dough in a rectangle 1/4 inch thick. Do the same for the chocolate dough. Lay one sheet on top of another and roll them together like a cinnamon roll. Roll in complimentary sprinkles. Wrap with plastic wrap and freeze for 30 minutes. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Slice cookies and place on baking sheet. Baker for 10 minutes! Halloween Cheeseball 2 packages cream cheese, softened 1 1/2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese 3 tbsp minced onions 2 tbsp salsa 2 green onions chopped 1 teaspoon minced jalapeno Doritos, crushed 1 stem of a bell pepper Assorted chips In a large bowl mix together the softened cream cheese, salsa, shredded cheese, jalapeƱo, and green onions till well combined. Form into a ball and refrigerate for 2 hours to firm up. Roll in crushed Doritos and then place the stem of a green pepper on top to serve! /a>
