Every year in February we are inundated with Valentine’s Day advertisements telling us to buy our special someone bunches of flowers, heart-shaped chocolates, and at its worst a skimpy underwear set.
Instead, I prefer to show my husband how much I love him year round! I don’t need a special holiday to do that and neither do you!
I am blessed beyond belief with my marriage to my best friend, Jack. I know many people struggle with their spouses and while we all have our moments when we don’t particularly like the person we are with I encourage you to step back and remember the first days of your life together. Take yourself back to the moment when you first held hands? Or the time you went on a picnic and sat on a big quilt in the sun and everything felt right in your world. Perhaps you remember your first kiss. Chances are you’d been kissed before…but what was it that made this kiss different? Focusing on these thoughts is what will keep your marriage alive.
Not every day can be a walk in the park with the person you love but I promise you that choosing to nurture your love rather than stifle it with negativity and tit for tat arguments will reward you forever!
I don’t want to come across as being preachy but I want my readers to love love as much as I do! My Jack is truly a gift from God! His love has saved me time and time again over the years. Jack is the one who gave me the encouragement and will to want to live my dreams. He has never given me limits that clipped my will to succeed. He has consistently chosen to build me up rather than tear me down. Jack is my one true love and I treasure him with all of my being!
That, my friends, is why Valentine’s Day to me is nothing more than sappy commercials and marketing ploys. My Valentine’s day is everyday and it is my wish that you make yours the same!
