Father’s Day Burgers

This week I am celebrating all of the Daddy’s out there! I am so blessed to be married to a man who takes being a Daddy very seriously! He loves, plays and parents our children with everything he has to offer. When I married Jack over 20 years ago,  I was thinking about me. Our relationship. Now being on the other side…I think more women should consider, “Is this man going to be a good father?” I always knew Jack was going to give my children the same sort of unconditional love he has always given me.

So, when thinking of the ultimate Father’s Day menu, I had to look no further than the grill. Then I thought about every man’s favorite. Burgers. They can be plain or be super fancy! It is up to you! I promise my recipes will not leave your Daddy wanting something else!

Beer Can BBQ Burgers

1 pound ground chuck
4 strips bacon
1 red onion, chopped
1 cup chopped bbq beef
4 slices cheddar cheese
BBQ Sauce
Hamburger buns
1 soda or beer can
Preheat the grill or grill pan. Separate the ground chuck into 4 even amounts. Flatten one the hamburger balls and then place the beer can in the middle. Press the edges of the burger up at least 1 inch on the sides. Wrap a slice of bacon around the edge of the burger rim. Remove the can. Sprinkle with patty with your favorite seasoning salt. Fill the indention with chopped red onion and bbq beef. Repeat with each patty and then place on the grill. Cook over medium high heat. Once the burger is cooked through, place a slice of cheese on top and cook till melted! Serve on a hamburger bun.
The Farm Burger
1 pound ground beef
1 pound sausage
4 fried eggs
Grated cheddar cheese
Sliced Onion
lettuce
tomato
Sassy Secret Sauce (see recipe below)
Preheat the grill or grill pan. To make the patties, mix together the ground beef and sausage. Divide the meat mixture into 6 patties. Sprinkle with sea salt and pepper. Cook the patties over medium to high heat until cooked to your desired temperature. To make the Farm Burger: Place the burger patty on a bun, top with cheese, fried egg, lettuce, fresh tomato slice, onion and a smear of sassy secret sauce!
Sassy Secret Sauce
3/4 cup mayonnaise
3 tablespoon Wickles pickle relish
1 tablespoon cider vinegar
1 tablespoon sugar
2 tablespoon ketchup
Mix all of the ingredients in a small bowl till combined. Smear on your favorite burger or sandwich!
