On my tour of iconic Oklahoma food producers I got to mark off something from my bucket list! I went to Tuttle, OK and toured the Braum’s Bakery and got to visit the cow nursery. Truly an all around amazing experience. First of all when you drive in you are overwhelmed with the beauty of the land. Cows roaming peacefully and then the scent of baking Christmas cookies hits you…..this is my kind of place!
During the bakery tour I was so impressed with the smell inside. You know those sugar cookie candles that are so popular? Well take that smell x a million. Heavenly! Did you know that they make their own bread fresh daily? That includes the hamburger and hot dog buns as well. Baked day one and in your stores day 2. It was so exciting to watch and see a working bakery in action. I did have to ask what happens to the less “perfect” cookies. I was seriously hoping they were going to say they all eat them but the answer was shockingly wonderful! They feed them to the cows! No wonder their milk is so sweet and delicious!
