I am in California on my annual lovers trip and Jack treated me to a day at the spa. It is so heavenly here. They have this quiet conservatory room with a big fire and a warm blanket to snuggle in.
This is what heaven must feel like. As if all of this is not enough I am so in love with this lemonade. It is a Lavender Ginger Lemonade. It is perfectly tart and refreshing but not too sweet! Yum! Here is the recipe and I thought I might share!
To make fresh lemonade I am always bail on the project until I got my Cuisinart Juicer! It is the bomb and makes juicing so so much easier. Now I make limeades and lemonades all the time!
Fresh Lavender Ginger Lemonade
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup (a generous handful) fresh or 1 tablespoon dried lavender blooms stripped from stems
- 1/4 fresh ginger, slices
- 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice, strained
- Ice cubes
- Lavender sprigs for garnish
- Combine sugar with 2 1/2 cups water in a medium pan. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring to dissolve the sugar.
- Add the lavender blooms and ginger slices to the sugar water, cover, and remove from heat. Let stand at least 20 minutes (and up to several hours).
- Using the freshest lemons, squeeze juice with electric juicer and set aside.
- Strain mixture and discard lavender. Pour infusion into a glass pitcher. Add lemon juice and another 2 1/2 cups water. Stir well and watch lemonade change color.
- Pour into tall glasses half-filled with ice or refrigerate until ready to use.
