Yesterday was the beginning of my last year in the 30’s. I have to admit I was a little bit down starting on Monday. However, by the time I awoke on Tuesday am I had 4 texts of Happy Birthday and then a barrage of well wishes on Facebook. All I can say is that I had a great day. My girlfriends gave me a lunch and then showered me with gifts. Then as if that was not enough…my super Lisa took me for a pedicure and my mother-in-law treated me to more gifts and dinner. WOO! I had people stop me while grocery shopping to wish me a happy birthday. Basically it was a day about ME.
With all of that said…I had to stop and reflect last night. I know the media attacks the bad parts of Facebook and Twitter but there are some good. I have reconnected with friends from my past that I thought I had lost forever. They took time out of their day to send me a good wish on MY DAY. That is huge! I truly am seeing that technology for all its flaws does have some basic qualities. It has made gestures of kindness easier to express! It makes the person who ordinarily, for whatever reason, take the time to think of others. That is a gift that we a society should not overlook. Ok, enough preaching.
In closing, I just want to say thank you to all of my friends! I am truly honored to have you in my life.

PS..Elizabeth your gift was beyond words…I am still giggling when I look in the sack. You take shopping at CVS to a whole new level!
